Ridership Continues to Rise

Our ridership this year is up 64% compared to last year! We continue to see major increases in both Hidalgo County and Cameron County. Thank you to all of our passengers and supporters. We're planning even more improvements to our service in the coming months as we continue to expand.

United Way Community Partner Award

Because of its work on Route 45, Valley Metro recently received United Way’s 2011 Community Campaign-Community Partner Award, which recognizes the outstanding efforts of local community organizations. We want to express our gratitude to United Way, and our many project partners who worked tirelessly to establish the new route: City of Los Fresnos, Los Fresnos Consolidated Independent School District, Cameron County, University of Texas - Brownsville, Texas State Technical College, Workforce Solutions - Cameron County, and the Harlingen-San Benito MPO. We are very proud of our efforts to increase bus service in Cameron County and will continue to work vigorously on behalf of our riders. Thank you!

Free Fare Period Extended on All JARC Routes


We're happy to extend our free-fare period on our JARC routes in Hidalgo County. Routes 10, 13, 20, 30, and 31 will remain FREE until the end of September, 2012. Now's the time to ride!

Harlingen Bus Fleet Ribboncutting

You're invited! Come join us as we unveil the new bus fleet for our Harlingen area routes on Friday, January 13, 2012, 10 AM, across from Harlingen City Hall. Toys for Transit

Valley Metro is coordinating its 2nd Annual 'Toys for Transit' toy drive. From now until December 19 we will be collecting new, unopened toys for children living in local colonias. Keep yourself warm this season by donating a toy to a deserving child.

On behalf of the entire staff at Valley Metro, we wish you a very happy Thanksgiving holiday! As our drivers and staff celebrate with their families, service will not operate on Thursday. However, service will resume on Friday at normal hours.

Economic Resource & Career Fair: Opening Doors to the Future

We were proud to participate in this year's Economic Resource & Career Fair at the State Farm Arena on the 8th. Thank you to all the many job seekers who visited our booth to see how we can provide an affordable transportation option to find a job, get to work, get training, and get workforce information. All of our urban routes in Hidalgo County connect to major employers and operate from 6 AM - 7 PM. Our service remains free on routes 10, 13, 20, 30, and 31 until the end of the year! Thanks to Workforce Solutions, Workforce Solutions Cameron, and Congressman Congressman RubĂ©n Hinojosa for hosting such a great event.
