Because of its work on Route 45, Valley Metro recently received United Way’s 2011 Community Campaign-Community Partner Award, which recognizes the outstanding efforts of local community organizations. We want to express our gratitude to United Way, and our many project partners who worked tirelessly to establish the new route: City of Los Fresnos, Los Fresnos Consolidated Independent School District, Cameron County, University of Texas - Brownsville, Texas State Technical College, Workforce Solutions - Cameron County, and the Harlingen-San Benito MPO. We are very proud of our efforts to increase bus service in Cameron County and will continue to work vigorously on behalf of our riders. Thank you!

We were proud to participate in this year's Economic Resource & Career Fair at the State Farm Arena on the 8th. Thank you to all the many job seekers who visited our booth to see how we can provide an affordable transportation option to find a job, get to work, get training, and get workforce information. All of our urban routes in Hidalgo County connect to major employers and operate from 6 AM - 7 PM. Our service remains free on routes 10, 13, 20, 30, and 31 until the end of the year! Thanks to Workforce Solutions, Workforce Solutions Cameron, and Congressman Congressman Rubén Hinojosa for hosting such a great event.
